A sea of happiness
When the sun has just come up over the horizon, it’s time to grab your hat and sun cream and head for the Estérel Mountains in the Var. You will discover a multitude of small coves that alternate between sandy and pebble beaches, and turquoise and emerald waters. We recommended the Poussaï cove at the port of Agay. You get there by picking your way along a well-secluded trail that winds among the umbrella pines and agaves. This pebbly cove is surrounded by purple rocks and offers a stunning view of Ile d’Or, which strangely resembles Tintin’s Black Island! It’s the perfect place for a dip to cool off before having a bite to eat by the waterside at Agathos, a reasonably-priced beach restaurant at Baumette beach in Agay.
Feast your eyes
After that, take a deep breath and set out to climb Cap Dramont. From the top you get a breath-taking view of the bay of Agay, Ile d’Or and the Estérel! It may be a hackneyed expression, but the place looks like something straight out of a picture postcard… It’s well worth a photo on Instagram for your colleagues back in the office.
There is something of the Far West about the red rocks that receive countless “likes” and we are sure that you will do the same.
In the evening, head for Sainte-Maxime or Saint-Tropez for their festive family ambience! Don’t be put off by the recent urban developments, Sainte-Maxime is still a fishermen’s village at heart, although it gets lively at night. Stroll through the crafts market and enjoy the different street performances that take place throughout the summer and roam the streets with an ice-cream in hand to find the perfect souvenir to take back home. And when you get hungry, sit down at the terrace of one of the many restaurants to enjoy one of the many Provençal specialities! Courgette tian, ratatouille, pistou soup… but make sure to keep a little room for a tropézienne for dessert!
Continue the evening on the port to listen to the song of the wind in the masts and stretch out on the beach to look up at the sky. If you see a shooting star, make a wish… it may be the right time to head straight for the casino – it’s just behind you!
